Open Pantry of Lowell

Our ongoing support is very important in order to help the Open Pantry continue to serve those in need, especially now during the bitterly cold weather of winter. Please try to bring just one canned item or box of staples as an offering to aid in keeping the Pantry’s shelves stocked. Money donations are alos helpful as they allow the purchase of perishable goods for distribution; you can put either cash or a check in an envelope with “Open Pantry Donation” written on it and drop it in the offering plate. Any help we can give is greatly appreciated by the Open Pantry and by those they serve.

The Merrimack Valley Project

The Merrimack Valley Project (MVP) is a regional Social Justice Organization with 33 member groups, including churches (9 Episcopal Churches), synagogues, local labor unions, and ethnic and community organizations across the Merrimack Valley.

Founded in 1989, MVP has led successful campaigns to preserve jobs, create tenant-owned affordable housing, and to pass legislation to promote housing renovation and the rights of low -wage earners.

MVP does not provide direct services such as housing or job referrals. It is non-partisan and works with community-based organizations so that individuals, new immigrants, and new residents can have a voice in their town’s involvement in housing and work issues.

The MVP office is in Grace Episcopal Church, Jackson Street, Lawrence. Hopefully, an organizer and office for MVP will be set up in Lowell soon.

St Anne’s Church is a dues-paying member of MVP. Volunteers are welcome to work with our present St Anne’s team, which includes Jeannette Hedlund, Bea Howard, and Shirley Afroh. Please join us this year for this vital work. Bea Howard 978-453-3512

M/A-Com Food Share Mobile Pantry

M/A-Com’s Mobile Pantry was created in 1996 to assist the elderly and disabled persons with limited incomes. This food pantry provides customized food orders to meet the dietary needs and personal preferences of their clients, and deliveries are made monthly.

In addition to food, their services include Food Stamp applications, Mass Pharmacy applications, and links to other services as needed.

If you know a low-income elderly or disabled person in the Greater Lowell area who would benefit from this program, please refer him or her to the parish office.

Referrals are received by the Mobile Pantry coordinator by clergy, doctors, visiting nurses, home health workers, and other social service agencies.
