The Rev. Max Sklar, Strategic Curate

Max Sklar grew up in Salem, MA. He attended McGill university in Montreal for his undergrad degree, and returned to Salem where he was sponsored and ordained by Saint Peter’s/San Pedro Episcopal church 2025. In May of 2023, Max received his Master of Divinity Degree from Yale Divinity School. He served as a seminarian at St. John’s Episcopal Church, a bilingual church in Waterbury Connecticut and at Trinity on the Green, New Haven as part of the Reimagining Church Program. He also completed one unit of CPE (hospital chaplaincy) at Beverly Hospital, the hospital in which he was born! After completing seminary Max served a Palestinian Christian community as a Deacon at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, in Ramallah in the West Bank. Max worked there in the Summer and Fall and has continued working for the St. Andrew’s long distance through the Episcopal Church Office of Global Partnerships. Max is also a professed member of the Third Order of the Society of Saint Francis. He has recently returned from a teaching and preaching trip working with indigenous communities in the interior of Guyana through the Third Order. Max is a dedicated language learner and is familiar with about ten languages to varying degrees of proficiency. In his free time, Max practices theatre, historical research and interpretation, is an amateur musician, and enjoys boxing training.
